Mark & Paige- awesome podcast. You guys are second to none in this space. If you guys ever make an exception to inviting guests on the show, the guys at MSA Safety would love to hop on and discuss connected PPE (specifically gas monitoring). Keep it up! We all appreciate what you two are doing.

    Important information
I absolutely love this podcast! My family owns Mountain West Energy Services, a small, locally owned and operated oil and gas company. It’s always insightful to hear your expertise on major issues affecting the country. Many of these high-level topics eventually impact the work we’re involved in, so your discussions are both relevant and valuable. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

Non-technical oil & gas podcast to remain current with the industry
Grateful for the O&G this week podcast. The podcast allows me to stay close to the industry as I left an energy market intel firm two years ago to work in energy procurement. Occasionally pieces of information from the pod come in handy in my current line of work when speaking to clients. Please continue making fun of California and just stop oil. I don’t always agree with Mark’s views but we both agree on the Q50.

The best place to get you oil & gas updates
Paige & Mark are fantastic and keeping you up to date on news within our industry. They’re also very helpful for someone like me who works in a specific part of the industry but appreciates the insight they provide to help me better understand our industry as a whole. I learn something new on each episode. Thank you, guys!

    Great Show
I listen to Oil and Gas this week podcast as soon as they come out. I’m an economics student who hopes to work in the industry. Paige and Mark are always a pleasure to listen to and make me laugh. It is always a joy to learn something new every week from them both!

    My go to commute podcast
Hey y’all, just wanted to say I love the show. I am a recently graduate, employed at a medium sized offshore E&P company in the woodlands. I happen to love the snarky comments, and tend to agree with the points on climate change. The information is informative and up to date and makes my 45 min drive to work bearable. They only negative I have for y’all is that the show is only updated weekly. I wish I could listen to it every day. Keep up the good work and drill baby drill. -Austin

    Informative but …
I like listening to the podcast for news and updates on the industry. Their format and reporting is top notch. However, the climate change denialism diminishes their content’s true value. The activism side isn’t without problems but there are many people from the industry trying to find solutions to these problems which, for better or worse, has been accelerated by our industry. From carbon capture and sequestration to geothermal energy, engineers and geoscientists are working on solutions, and outright denialism does nothing but demonize the industry in the eyes of a layperson. I wish the hosts would learn and talk more about these works rather than make snarky remarks every time the topic of climate change comes up.

Great show to be in the know about oil and gas
I have been listening long before the current host Paige and this podcast is consistently a great source for up to date oil and gas news with some opinion sprinkled in for good measure. The first Friday Q&A episodes are great! But be aware the “This Week” may not always mean weekly shows. Despite this and the co-host Marks questionable transitions it’s 5 stars for anyone in the industry or just looking to learn more while keeping up to date on our industry.

Worth a 2nd Review and Rating
I've listened to various OGGN podcasts over the past couple of years, with the main one being Oil and Gas this Week. Mark and Paige do a great job delivering timely industry info in a fast paced and informative show. I'm a huge consumer of all kinds of energy related information via podcasts and this one is always on the top of my playlist. Keep rocking the program!

    Maybe more opinion than news
Somewhat biased. Sure oil/gas is king but we need a planet to live on. The co-host seems to parrot the main host's views, resulting in a lack of depth and critical thinking. I say this as a Gulf listener in the industry.

    Love the show!
I’ve been listening to the show for a while but wanted to leave a review because I really enjoyed the October 11th episode with a discussion of the possibility of hydrocarbons on Mars. Don’t know if you ever watched the National Geographic series called Mars from 2016/2018, but the second season actually focuses a lot on fictional natural resource extraction. It’s a little cheesy, but still interesting although it doesn’t exactly paint the oil and gas industry in the best light. Nonetheless, I’m excited about the possibilities of how our industry could play a part in future space exploration. Love the show and your passion for the industry!

    O&G This Week Review
Your paragraph looks great, but I made a small adjustment for clarity: I found this show a few years ago when I was looking for a quicker way to stay up-to-date with what is happening in the Energy Industry. Like many other listeners, my time is valuable, and I'm always considering what to do during my commute from home to the office or when visiting a customer. Marc and Paige became my companions not only when I was driving but also during my workouts. I decided to join one of the old mixers to see if it could add value to my professional life, and the results were incredible. I can’t count how many people I met, and my professional networking has evolved significantly since then. I met Mark LaCour and Michael O', and we became friends. From time to time, I met them for quick lunch and learn sessions. Despite the short time, I had the opportunity to become a business partner, and I continue to learn from them and from the show. For those reading reviews to assess its worthiness, go ahead and subscribe. Also, consider exploring other shows like "Oil and Gas Ingenuity," "The O&G Digital Doers," and "Oil and Gas Upstream." Great job Mark & Page.

Great Wat To Learn About Oil
Our civilization is based on oil. This podcast will help you understand that.

    Good O&G news source
I’m just a layperson that doesn’t work in oil and gas and I use OGTW to get my oil and gas news. Usually around 30 minutes a week, an episode helps me understand what’s going on in energy (and hey, we all use energy). I find this “citizen journalism” to be much more useful than the old way of listening to activists… er, I mean “journalists”… tell me what’s happening and why it matters. We live in amazing times when we can listen to people doing actual work on the ground. Mark is obviously passionate and knowledgeable about O&G and it’s great to listen to someone who enjoys their craft as much as him. I don’t always understand what Mark and Paige are talking about but that’s ok. There’s nothing wrong with learning as you listen to news; arguably, that’s the way it should be. I’m thankful to be living in times where I can hear industry news, straight from practitioners. Maybe I’m the only normie that listens to this podcast, but I suspect not. Mark and Paige are doing good work, not just for O&G professionals, but for folks who want tangible info on what’s happening. In terms of politics, Mark is prone to “both sides”-speak, so I can only take him at his word. But to me, it’s clear only one political party wants to keep us energy poor so I hope he’s calling it as he sees it, not bowing to pressure. (Note to Apple; I can’t make paragraphs in reviews - what the heck?! - sorry for the wall of text. I tried.)

    Great show
I’ve been working in Oil & Gas pipelines for 20 years and continue to learn about our enormous and important industry because of great shows like these. There are many podcasts to choose from but few, if any, are delivered by people as passionate and knowledgeable as Mark and Paige. You might find their journalistic objectivity wonders when it comes politics (winking emoji) but that pales in comparison to the vast knowledge and on-point perspectives of our industry that listeners benefit from. Mark’s take on energy mix evolution is insightful, and in my mind, spot on. A true highlight of any O&G professional’s week - thoroughly recommend it. Stuart Wilson

    Very informative
Love the podcast, been a listener since Paige came on board! You both do a great job explaining such a complex industry in a way people outside of our industry can understand. Keep up the good work! I’m a national fuel broker and I look forward to the episode’s!

    Great content great hosts
This is the best oil and gas podcast out there. Mark and Paige provide insightful and meaningful content about the current state of the oil and gas industry in a fun and interesting way. That is not easy to do!

    Episode 281
Hey Paige & Mark, first time reviewer - listener of 12 months. WHAT THIS SHOW IS: This show is a combination of the most pressing news in a few minutes with a knowledgeable and authentic approach - and it’s produced well with crisp audio [thanks for that!] WHAT THIS SHOW IS NOT: This show is not “petrochemical engineering for dummies”, podcast edition. It’s good to learn about the chemicals around you before having an opinion on a topic. Insulation, paint, nail polish, coolant, detergents, packaging, adhesives, water treatment, paint thinners, all come from upstream feedstocks with efficient efforts (crude and natural gas at the very top). To your 1 star reviewers: let’s all enjoy those plastic straws and insulated walls and have a calm conversation over a cup of coffee about what crude and petrochemicals means to you. Mark, Paige, Keep up the good work. 🤙🏼 Jourdan Brogdon (pronounced Jor-Dan) LinkedIn KeenBolden, LLC

    As new investors THANK YOU!
Hi Mark and Paige, I worked as a rough neck out of high school in Rock Springs WY in 1980. I was young and stupid and I left a great career to early. My Biggest regret. Fast forward 42 years My wife and I have invested in a great small company in Texas that is going after Natural Gas. We love listening to you and Mark on our travels and at home. Thank you so much for the education and news without any spin! You both ROCK! Scott , Sarasota Florida

    Great show
Been listening awhile and really like your show. Was a little surprised by your comment that Exxon is ‘leaving Texas?!’ I think maybe you just saw that they sold a field in Texas in Barnett Shale, but they have a lot of other stuff going on in Texas! 🤣

Scroll no further-this is the best!
The original and by far the best Oil and Gas podcast out there! Mark and Paige do a great job of educating the listener in an entertaining and often thought provoking way. The entire OGGN suite of shows are good, but this one is by far my favorite. Nobody, and I mean nobody even comes close, just check out their number of downloads and reviews and you will see what I mean. Keep up the amazing work guys!

Don’t Listen If You Want To Learn Something
Listened to this podcast the other day for the first time, and was disappointed in the lazy approach of how they “teach” their listeners about what’s happening in the industry. The only thing I learned the entire episode was who they voted for in the last election. Not to mention they completely dismissed the idea of price gouging and record high profits for a number of big oil companies. Sad!

    Insightful and fun
This podcast is one of my preferred tools to feel productive while I commute to work or workout. It really helps me stay up to date on the oil and gas industry when there is no time to read journals or watch the news. One observation I’d like to make is that in the two episodes in May 2022, Mark said that futures do not have an agreed upon price in the future. This is wrong, futures do have an agreed upon price called the execution price. Also, most transactions in the oil and gas industry are not precisely futures but forwards. Difference between these is that futures are exchange listed securities while forwards are OTC instruments and offer substantially more flexibility. Ok, I hope this helps and keep up the great work.

    Great podcast
I started listening to this podcast beginning this year. I enjoy the topics they’ve covered so far. It helps me to stay up to date on the industry and brings insight I wouldn’t have necessarily thought of. Clever with the F-150 raptors tracking lol

    New and loving it
Hi OAGTW team! I want to say that I really appreciate all of the effort you put into your shows. I genuinely look forward to your podcast every other week. Listening to you both has done a lot to challenge and change previous misconceptions I had about the industry. I am really interested in the finance and investment side of the industry. I have a few questions: Are there any good indexes for new rig starts/how many existing rigs are currently having their capital equipment upgraded? What is the typical lead time for an onshore rig? How important is the influence of Wall Street in limiting large production increases? i.e. the shift from growth focus to profitability focus. Since hydro-carbons do ultimately represent a finite resource, are any of the super-majors taking steps to diversify revenue streams/create a more resilient business? Keep up the good work!

    Great show
I’ve been listening to the show for years and really enjoy the content. Both hosts cover current events and give more context to click bait articles that are anti energy. In addition, I really appreciate the international viewpoint they provide to explain oil and gas markets. Robert G Facilities Engineer, Chevron Midland TX

Excellent commentary on O&G current events
Leaving a review because they deserve one (and not because they have been pleading for one). Mark, Paige and her predecessor deserve immense credit for all they have done for education on the oil and gas industry. As the flag ship for OGGN, this program serves as the Nexus for their efforts. It provides information not only about the industry but also everything at OGGN. I have two challenges for Mark and Paige: First, you are big proponents of getting young people into the industry however, in looking at the OGGN site I could not find anything about your internship program? If you have one I challenge to make it more readily accessible to your audience and if you don't, I challenge you to start one. Secondly rig count is a great historic measure of activity in the oil industry. However the count is relative to operational efficiency in the industry I think you guys are smart enough and the OGGN has the resources to begin your own metric for tracking activity. Some combination of spot gas prices, shipping activity, storage and price might be interesting. Thanks for all you do Erik

    Energy, Education, and the Youngins
Hi Paige and Mark, I work for the AAPL accredited undergraduate Energy Management Program at Western Colorado University. I began listening to your podcast when I took this position, and it has helped me drastically in regards to my understanding of the industry. In order to help get more youth into the industry, I have to know what’s going on- and this is my go-to podcast. You’ve consistently mentioned the need for individuals to get out, talk to their neighbors, their families, the mailman etc, in order to help others understand our industry- and I agree this is unbelievably important. As someone who recruits high school seniors into our Energy Management Program, I’m finding the concept of O&G difficult to connect with the younger generation on. We have several partners in the industry to support scholarships, internships, job placements, and quite frankly, not enough graduates to supply to them. We neeeeed the younger generation coming into this industry, and to that point, what advice would you give to recruiters to get more kids pursuing careers in our industry? Thanks for all you do! -Veronica

    New to the industry
Hello Mark and Paige! I am about to graduate from Colorado School of Mines. You say this is a podcast for busy oil and gas professionals, but I am constantly recommending to students and others looking to get into the industry! I appreciate what y’all do. I did a 7 month CO-OP with ExxonMobil last year doing machinery engineering and I loved it, but now due to the current state of the company, there probably will not be any opportunities for me there. I am now very weary to go into a company that is primarily oil/gas based, rather I am more considering a company like Flowserve which is very active in the oil and gas industry but has a more diversified base. What are y’all’s advice for young individuals trying to join the industry?

    Great find
Was looking to learn a little more about what was going on with energy and oil around the world! This was very educational! Thank you, can’t wait to tune in next time! What do you two think the gas prices will reach by the end of the year?

    The Best Podcast
Mark and Paige, thank you guys for the stellar podcast. I’m the Fuels Compliance/Product Quality attorney at my company and have found your podcast in February 2020. I’ve been a devoted listener ever since (even caught up on all the previous episodes as well). I left private practice to join my company in January 2020. While there was some overlap in my previous area of practice, I quickly realized that I had very little experience in the oil and gas world. Between your podcast, the unhealthy number of books I purchased and read on refining and processing, and the patience of many kind folks, I learned quickly. Thank you for providing such a great platform for those in the industry. Looking forward to meeting you guys at one of your live events in the near future!

    Returning to Patch
Hello! I have been listening to your podcast since I began fracking as an Equipment Operator back in 2017, after my retirement from the Army. After the layoffs in early 2020, I still continued to listen. After multiple jobs and unemployment, I finally got a call back and will be back in West Texas soon. Your podcast makes me sound smart when talking with other EOs when I was working, haha. So my question is, what are your thoughts on the “older” generation stating that they will not return since the last down turn? Thanks again for providing an excellent podcast!
  • Roger Gaines
Informative and professional show, my favorite!
I have been listening to this show for a year now, and I love it! In fact, I like this show so much that I created an Apple ID just to leave a review since the android podcast app doesn't let you review. These guys know about the industry and are realistic. They always promote diversity and equality in the industry. On the environmental side, they always inform their audience about all the O&G industry's optimization actions to run cleaner. However, sometimes, they confuse me about the "prosperity" that the O&G industry offers. I think they always mean economic prosperity and not an environmental one. I get it; we need a good economy to prosper, but what about a clean environment for our children and grandchildren? We need a balance. Mark always acknowledge when he's wrong about something and promise to keep improving the show. A very human team runs this show; they're like a family. I hope I can attempt one of their events one day.

    Informative but one-sided
Been listening to this podcast for 4 years now. It’s really the only podcast like it, truly unique. The hosts do a good job of explaining a complex industry and sharing relevant news in a concise and easy to digest way. It’s a great way to hear about updates in the industry and trends. However, the show is clearly deep into oil and gas pockets and very one-sided about any discussion of the environment (I feel like I’m listening to dinosaurs talk). A note to the hosts, you can point out flaws in environmental policies and concerns without making a mockery of it. I’ve seen some of Marc Lacour’s LinkedIn comments and he’s definitely a Trump supporter. This may not bother the demographic that listens to this podcast, but personally I don’t put financial gain above people’s basic human rights.

    Love the show, but
Hey guys. I’m new to the industry and really enjoy the show—great way to stay/get up to speed on all things oil and gas. Keep up the great work! Two critiques: 1. It seems as if every time there is a discussion of policy proposals or initiatives (here or abroad) that aim to address the environmental impact of the oil and gas industry it is referred to as being “political.” While surely some who propose such policies have political motives, the same could also be said for those arguing from the opposite side of the issue. Whether you agree with environmental friendly policies or not, there are those (even in the industry) who believe that the economic benefits of the oil and gas industry should be balanced with preserving clean water, air, etc. You have spoken on occasion about the positive steps the industry has taken to protect the environment—and those steps are commendable—but that is a more recent phenomenon relative to the industry’s history. By dismissing any environmentally friendly initiative as purely political contributes to an all or nothing perspective that eliminates any discussion of balancing environmental and economic policy. 2. Pronouncing Biden (By-den) as Bidd-in. 8 years as the Vice President and the last year as a Presidential candidate and you don’t know how to pronounce his name? Really?! Thanks again for the great work!!
