    Tour de Force
What an engaging intellectual journey covering philosophy, religion and beliefs over mankind’s existence. Only the BBC can do this so well.

Should be included in school curricula
I probably must have listened to a 1000 hours of podcasts and this is undoubtedly the best one yet.

    Brilliant
i loved the inclusion of religion in general. a great listen.

    Nicely done,,,
But this material is covered the first week of a mid level Anthropology course. Still, if you’re not an anthropologist, it’s a good synopsis of the development and function of belief systems. Some segments could have been longer. I would just be getting really interested and the episode would abruptly end.

    Living With the Gods
I found the Living With the Gods Podcast thoroughly moving. I really enjoyed learning about collective beliefs through history. In our vastly individual society, this podcast has been a welcome perspective in the power of shared beliefs and of community. I recommend to anyone with a heart.

    Best since 100 Objects
This has been, without a shadow of a doubt, my favorite podcast since History of the World in 100 objects. Let your Congressfolk know the CPB could fund things like this.

    Fascinating series
Wonderfully produced series about how communities expressed their religious beliefs through objects in the British Museum collections.

    Excellent series
If you haven't seen the exhibition at the British Museum (and even if you have), this is an outstanding series on different aspects of religion. I look forward to the TV series.

    A must listen
Great bite size pieces of the history of faith and religion. The series goes by super fast because each episode is just over 14 mins. And just like that seven and a half hours are gone! At the end of some episodes I got a little frustrated because of the lack of detail, but then I thought maybe that’s the point. You are introduced to a world of ideas. Explore and pursue the ones that appeal to you. For anyone wanting to enrich their knowledge on why we believe, don’t believe, or don’t care either way, this is a must listen.

    Great Podcast
Well worth a listen. It brings some good points to light. For me personally I’ve always been very criticle of all atheistic societies as failed or deeply flawed societies. But for some reason I’ve never considered the French Revolution as one of them. I don’t know why but I’ve never considered it with the same group of failed 20th Century Atheistic Socieities. I now see it as the grandfather of them all.

    Excellent
Episodes are brief but compelling. I was excited for the podcast after the previous History of the World in 100 Objects. It did not disappoint.

Brilliant series, tastefully and intelligently written and presented
Gratitude to Mr. McGregor for this opus ! He presented stories of the supernatural from most of the world and over many centuries. It was vivid and profound. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Compassionate, stylish take on a hard topic
If you are struggling with a faith-based conflict or misunderstanding with someone, I HIGHLY recommend sitting down together and listening to some relevant episodes of "Living with the Gods" as a starting point for discussion. The most important point about this podcast is that it manages to present a beautifully "equidistant" view of the all faith traditions: all faiths are treated with equal respect, compassion, and honest attempts at understanding. Crucially, this podcast treats atheism and the cults of reason and science as humanist faith traditions, and holds them in an "equidistant" from theist and animist faith traditions. Overall, this series is brilliant, and I cannot recommend it enough.

    Well done!
These episodes are thoughtful and well researched.

    Rich with information
This series takes you through human belief BUT with the artifacts and knowledge of the illustrious British Museum. Our narrator doesn't limit himself to the museum but dives off from its cliff. Throughly enjoyable.

    So good!
Very insightful. I loved it and hope you do more:)

Object-based place of departure to explore ideas
It is like having a faith-based course by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich. He takes a fascinating object from a museum collection, gives it context and then expands to how it is an expression of how people worship and think of their communities.

    Brilliant
With the same care as with the earlier famous audio series “A History of the World in 100 Objects”, and the same cultural institutions involved in the production, this series presents a sweeping historical scope with select objects and concepts. It’s an exploration of human faith and its various aspects—belief, prayer, community, devotion public and private, ritual, cosmology, sacredness, and more. Highly recommended.
