Silver_StudiosAdsI love the podcast, but having minutes of ads is infuriating. I don’t want to hear 2 minutes of ads when listening to such an informative podcast! ☹️
-
PandizzleMust listenOne of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to. It captures the terror and uncertainty of the time, and shares so much about what the sniper was doing while the DC area was in chaos. Incredibly well rounded story, it will keep you entranced.
-
Iamnotarobot0101001FascinatingGreat host, layered story of the mayhem and paranoia of the 9/11 era, the manhunt and prosecution of two mysterious bad actors. The trail of damage goes much further than we were aware of at the time. The perspectives of the victims provides a humanized point of view and the prospect of malvo being paroled adds an intriguing legal capstone. Great soundtrack to boot.
-
lilhappymoAbsolutely rivetingI have listened to hundreds of (mostly) true crime podcasts and this podcast is hands down the best I’ve ever listened to. SO much information, well laid out and organized, tons of audio from survivors and LEO, and info from the case files… WOW. I had no idea how much carnage these 2 animals caused and how widespread it was beyond DC. Definitely add this one to your list!

Cg1066Great. I mean great, until….The entire reason for this podcast is the last main episode. The fact that one of the shooters was a minor and the opinion of the podcast says he should not be in jail is just a bunch of liberal hokum. He laughed at the families of the victims. He is pure evil and the makers of this podcast wants him to go free. The build up of this podcast is so good except for episode 15. What a waste.
-
dartedtwiceVery entertainingVery good podcast. I listened to it fully, im very curious as to how they got access to Lee Malvo’s interrogation audio? I would love to know please

HWooDeedooTrue crime podcast listenerI listened to this podcast when it first came out (free, not through i❤️radio). Hands down, one of the most intriguing and interesting p’casts I’ve ever heard. I remember the news reports & events when/as they happened in real time. I lived in the area. It was terrifying. The strategies, tactics & timeline of the work performed by detectives/police + the extreme pressure they faced, were nothing we could have known at the time. Welcome to the inside story. The brilliant work of the detectives and pathology of the sniper are nothing short of fascinating. It’s in my top 5 list of true crime podcasts. [Podcast listener since 2012] Highly recommended, although, disappointed it’s now via subscription (like so many older podcasts are these days… doesn’t really make sense except, capitalism). ❤️ you i❤️!

Esarah15Well researched but a little biasedVery compelling story but got political and biased towards the end.
-
B.C.GochenaurI love this show but…This show is great and I love it! There’s an ad tho that keeps playing with a gay guy saying that he’s gay. Disgusting.
-
Tired Teach.Sad but well researchedTony Harris is now one of my favorite voices. He did a great job. He brought the right attitude and spirit to this sad subject. This is a tragic story. I pray the violence ends. Thank you for this production
-
N0VAKIDAdds are terribleNothing like listening to an English spoken podcast that has Spanish spoken commercials.. so irritating….
-
Lawdog3572Well done and informativeThe show was well done. It was put together in such a way to keep you anticipating the next episode. Definitely could have omitted the “bonus” episodes. Mildred Muhammad fails to give any real proof of abuse by John Muhammad, yet she has now capitalized on the fact that she once was married to a murderer. Sticking to the crimes that occurred around the Nations Capital and perpetrated by these two animals would have been better.

h :Dgreat but… adsi would love to continue to listen to this podcast, but the ads are so annoying, and there’s so many of them. i wouldn’t mind as much if there were multiple breaks per episode if the ads were normal, but they really make no sense. there agitating and loud. honestly made me stop listening for a while. again, no hate to the host because i feel they did an amazing job. (but skip the bonus episodes lol 🫢)

EJSami1Great podcast. Would’ve given 5 stars except the bonus episode.Great podcast. My only issue was with the episode with the daughters. They sounded so inconsiderate of the pain their father had caused. As if they expressed too much compassion for their father’s victims, it would somehow make them look as if they were sharing in his guilt. But maybe they were just being honest and they really don’t care that much. Who knows? It has left such a bad taste in my mouth that I returned to comment on it years after listening when the podcast first aired. I would have rather heard if any of the victims families had found peace rather than hearing about how the perps daughters were thriving, doing so well, don’t carry the thoughts or shame, blah, blah, blah. Well good for them. But my heart goes out to those who lost their loved ones. That’s where I think the focus should have been at the end of the series.
-
hhab310What is with the minutes-long ads?I don’t know why, but what seems like a 2 minute long Ford commercial multiple times per podcast needs to go. I end up lowering the volume for it, it’s that irritating. I get you need commercials, but wow. This particular podcast in the series seems to have way more commercials than the others, and longer ones. I am really liking the reporting, but minus a star for that. Longer ads are awful.
-
SharmelleIn Depth and InsightfulThis arc in the Monster series (Season 3, the DC Sniper) is one of the few podcasts I’ve truly binged. A deep dive into the DC Sniper case, what may have driven the snipers, the attacks, and the aftermath. I found the interviews of the survivors, the families of those who died, and Mildred Muhammad compelling. Each season of the Monster series has been thoroughly researched and I do like how it unrolls. Looking forward to Season 4!

Kpc11478Podcast is great, ads are notAny other podcast channel that I pay a premium for is ad free. I’m paying for Tenderfoot+ and still have tons of ads. The podcast itself is great and does a nice job of telling the horrifying story of the DC Sniper. I lived in Virginia at the time and everyone anywhere even remotely close to DC was obsessed with this story. We were already uneasy and afraid after 9/11…now this crazy thing was happening with no pattern. Interesting and both horrifying hearing the up close and personal stories.
-
TherealMsMoExcellent! This was a truly insightful and informative podcast. I remained intrigued episode to episode, and the production quality is top notch. The poise and strength showcased by Mildred Muhammad was impressive. My heart goes out to her and her children. Tony Harris was a true professional as always.
-
AndybrewsterPick and ChooseThe episodes relating to the actual crimes are very well done. But do yourself a favor and skip any episode devoted to John Mohammed's ex-wife. The woman is a huge drama queen and the amount of air time the podcast creators give her is annoyingly excessive.
-
TuribiusWell done and balanced!I’ve listened to a lot of different crime podcasts but the journalistic work that went into this made it excellent. I was riveted. I really hope they start a new season.
-
pillowman3:16Well doneVery well done podcast. I learned a lot I didn’t know, even though I followed this story closely as it was happening. One thing I wanted to add is that I do not believe Malvo should ever be released from prison. I can give him the benefit of feeling remorse, I can even extend the benefit that he was manipulated to do what he did, but there is a cost for a person’s actions. He can’t remorse his way out of the lives he took. He has to own that for the rest of his life. We are not safe as a society with lee malvo on the streets.
-
mos dugSuper-mainstream perspectiveI lived 32 years ten blocks from WTC and was there 9/11. The voiceover description here is gag-worthy cliché-ridden lazy viewpoint and summary. We NYers knew, the moment that 2nd plane hit, that it WAS a terrorist attack and it would NOT be a normal work day. Writer attempts to rewrite reality to fit his pet theory. This kind of mindset contributes very much to Americans’ shallow concerns. If the perspective doesn’t improve I won’t be able to continue listening.
-
JayMontcoGreat interviews and accessYou guys have gotten access to people who I’d never have thought would talk publicly. Great job.
-
Bens4vcobraS3 E15Great podcast except for the sentencing episode, which was highly biased mostly featured interviews from people in support of parole. Also, a left wing law professor was interviewed who argued that mandatory life w/o parole shouldn’t exist for any offender, which is frighteningly naive and ignorant. The very reason we need mandatory life is precisely because parole boards are NOT competent enough to make those determinations, which has been proven time and time again. Public safety is of no real concern to this individual. Additionally, whether or not someone will reoffend is not the only consideration in determining someone’s sentence, either. These misguided sentiments are always expressed by those who have never been a victim of violent crime. And for this reason, their dangerous views should be disregarded.
-
AnthonyBagginsSuch a great podcast! Pulls at all stringsLove this podcast and the incredible amount of research and work and sound design that went into it.. I only have one thing.. the episode when they were at SCAD. They were kind of putting NPR on the back burner and acting as if they created a new thing in sound design.. Radio Lab! Not even mentioned, that is one of the foundations of contemporary podcasts and sound design that were at it from the inception. Anyways such great work and artistry and compelling interviews

D23ttAddictive!This is the first podcast I listened to and I was hooked after the first episode. Ive been listening to podcasts ever since! Great listen, interesting story. Thanks!
-
monadloveOne of the bestIt is so well done, so thorough, gives an excellent job of interviewing both survivors/victim families AND the perpetrator(s).
-
Kutekitten18Very goodVery well
-
Aewaddell5 Stars all the wayIt surprises me there are 1 star reviews. I remember seeing this story on the news and being so frightened because we didn’t live too far from where the shootings were happening. This podcast provides insight into the why behind the what. I 100% believe that John Allen Muhammad committed this crime spree as a way to cover up his crime when he would eventually kill his ex-wife. Fortunately he was caught before then. As a survivor of DV survivor, this makes so much sense to me.
-
bob is not your uncleGood but the ads are awful and jarringThis series in really fascinating but the ads and the ad breaks are really jarring. There is a sound cue for the ad break but every episode starts with two ads. And the ads are essentially the same style of ads you’d hear on the radio; loud, obnoxious, disingenuous. The intro also gets very repetitive and annoying. The series itself is very very good and very well done but the ads really take you out of the head space and there are 2 or 3 ad breaks per episode
-
CFSU14Sniper PodcastAmazing Podcast!!!! This series kept me on my toes the entire time and left me waiting for the next episode. I am glad I was able to binge listen. Atlanta and the Zodiac Killer were really good but they happened before my lifetime. I actually remember watching news coverage on the DC Sniper. It was nice to learn more details about the case that are not as publicly known. I can’t wait for the next series in Monster.
-
Rod MundyAwesomeI was also a fan of the zodiac series. Zodiac was a little old for me but I remember this DC sniper case very well. Infact I believe i got home on a flight from Vegas the night they got em' and listened to the news on radio all the drive home
-
wilfulgreenBlandLittle about the victims A lot about an ex-wife Not much about the experience of the living it day to day
-
C_Lynn_2Wow!I am not one for crime podcasts. I stick to fashion, beauty, etc. However, when I came upon this I knew I had to listen. I was a sophomore in college when this happened and my sister was working at the Ponderosa where one shooting took place. Thankfully she was not on shift that night. It was so surreal to re submerge myself into this horror. I was at a different stage of life and removed from the Richmond area at the time. Very detailed and informative. I appreciated your respect and concern for all victims and persons who were affected. I may like a crime podcast after all.
-
bubbas.girl.foreverSpectacular PodcastWell-researched and narrating. This podcast provides a 360 view from a very objective standpoint.
-
LickemallChallDC sniperI just want to say how much I enjoyed the monster series, Atlanta child murders and DC sniper. Being a DC resident born and raised, brought back so many memories going through that time period. Great pod cast. Great job by everyone. Please do one on BTK killer please 🙏
-
El of OzEngaging ListenA bunch of people are saying to skip Mildred Mohammed’s episodes and I can’t understand why. They give insight into potential motivations for the crime and they do a lot to show you the kind of person John Mohammed was (aka utter trash). It’s not like she tried to make excuses for him and she shares a lot of important information on domestic abuse. If that is a trigger obviously avoid the episode but other than that, it’s a good listen.
-
Shaggy3001Worth a listenDefinitely worth your time. The producers do a good job of keeping you engrossed and educating the listener on the details of this crime. NOTE: Skip the bonus episode where they pat each other on the back about how great they are...🤮
-
plasxnxThe best podcast everThis was very interesting and good.

Mastercast ReviewsA must listen for the true crime junkie's archiveI avoided this true-crime podcast for a long time because I thought it would be really political for some reason? I’m not sure but I’m glad I gave it a listen because it is basically a serial killer case along the lines of iHeartRadio and TenderfootTV’s other podcasts in the Monster series: Monster: The Zodiac Killer and Atlanta Monster. The solo host for this show is actually Tony Harris, not Payne Lindsey who hosts the other pods in the Monster series. His voice is a bit deeper and more echos of a news reporter. Every other aspect parallels its sister shows in terms of production quality and suspense. It is unique in the way that everything from the actual crime that is committed to the profile of the killer isn’t what you expect. The 15 part series has two bonus episodes giving more insight into what fueled the attacks as well as the lasting effects. Each episode is about 40 minutes long and the show finished up in May of 2020 so it’s ready for binging. With over 13 hours of content, the pod could easily cover an eight-hour shift and then some. It comes highly recommended as well not just from me but from all of its listeners with 80% of the 4,864 ratings being a perfect 5 star. Overall it was an average star of 4 and a half with 291 written reviews. The script is well produced with interviews of victims, family members, and experts making up the majority of it. Music is fitting and ominous. Major trigger warnings for mass shootings, terrorist type attacks, and also domestic abuse. mmmsophisticatedmamaIn-depthA well researched and interesting journey into this story. The other reviews said to skip the Mildred Muhammad interview episode, and I did, so I have no real complaints.
-
Eye P FreelyRocked itOne of the best true crimes pod casts to date!!! Love this Dc Sniper casts.
-
SchoncherFantasticI remember this from the west coast. What an erie thought to live through something so terrorizing. I thought this was a well produced and told story. Highly recommend!
-
StefanielouiseGrippingFirstly, it says season 3 y’all, but that means it’s season 3 of the Monster: series, not season 3 of the DC sniper story. The first chapters of this is the first of the sniper series. Pretty gripping podcast, I personally like the old recordings and interviews. I was young when all of this happened so it’s cool to get all of these first hand perspective. I’m only halfway through and will update if need be.
-
musicpnpplNot that goodJust listen to the You’re Wrong About series on this subject instead
-
MSfromKYSnipersOne of my favorite serial podcasts I’ve listened to. They don’t miss a detail of the intriguing, yet tragic, event that gripped us all. The host goes beyond the crimes and examines the shooters, especially Malvo and his dysfunctional childhood. I was left wondering who he might’ve become without Muhammad. Give it a listen and see what you think.
-
Mo426One of the best told podcastsThis was outstanding! The clips, interviews and every aspect of this case were discussed in depth. I’d love to see Tony do some other cases such as Jon Benet, Lacey Peterson and more. Excellent reporting!
-
erin3568Great story tellingAlthough this was a horrible tragedy, the way the story is told kept me absolutly hooked. Couldn’t press pause for a second.
-
