I'm planning a trip to Egypt in about 2 months. I'm finding this podcast cast extremely helpful in many ways. From brushing up on my history to local culture and things to be wary of. His approach is conversational and assessable. And his love for Egypt (warts and all) seem to really shine through.

I listened to other travel podcast on Egypt and there was NO COMPARISON. John is thorough, organized and professional. I sing his praises!! Although we have never met I feel he is my friend because he is very personable. I planned my trip before leaning he had a travel agency. Would have loved to have seen Egypt with his company!!! This is beyond the best travel podcast about Egypt I have listened to. It is comprehensive however I wish there were more. I blew through them too quickly. Its Rick Steves quality in assisting proper planing while also educating.

This is an excellent travel podcast that really gets into the nitty gritty of travel in Egypt. I really appreciated the episodes dedicated to all of the changes Egyptian tourism is undergoing (GEM and NMEC museums as well as events like the golden pharaoh parade and the grand opening of the pyramid of the sphinx) John also covers Egyptian history and culture as well as logistics. Overall a terrific planning guide. I must also add that John’s passion for Egypt really comes through in his podcasts. He isn’t lying when he says he will answer questions if you e-mail him!

I have listened to every episode, and I’m in the process of listening to them all again! My husband and I were nervous about planning a much-anticipated trip to Egypt after a negative travel experience a few years ago, but this podcast completely turned that around! We are planning a very impromptu trip to Egypt at the end of the month and I am beyond grateful for John’s wisdom! We found $600 roundtrip tickets for the end of March and the selection of amazing 5-star hotels for rock bottom prices pretty much sealed the deal… so off we go with ~6 weeks advanced notice! John’s narration is everything you want to hear in a podcast. He delivers funny stories, intelligent warnings and the true insight of a person who has lived in Egypt. I have learned so much from him. My wife and are preparing a trip to Egypt. I came across John’s and enthralled since. At this point I am about a third of the way through the available episodes. The information provided is practical. John walks you through each venue from landing at the Cairo airport to dealing with street hawkers and ‘sales people’. I will be going back to multiple episodes to take notes and bring with as a portable guide. Thank you John for launching us on our voyage.

Before I started listening to Egypt Travel Podcast, I almost made two big mistakes with my planning. First, I was going to go solo without guides because I am very used to traveling solo around the world. Traveling to Egypt is very different. Trust me. And trust John’s advice in this podcast. Second, I almost booked with a guide who had an itinerary to take me to some very “jank” (like John likes to say) locations, shops and hotels. Fortunately, I had an awakening the more I listened to the podcast, emailed John with my proposed itinerary and he responded quickly giving me detailed input on how my trip of a lifetime (and this is after traveling to all seven continents) could have turned very sour. I not only listened to the entire series but I also book my trip through Egypt Elite. I, honestly, don’t think that I could have trusted another company like I do with this one. Do yourself a favor and listen to the segments and also consider booking your trip through Egypt Elite so you are guaranteed to have the best trip possible. Hearing some of the caveats of travel in Egypt gave me flashbacks of guides/experiences in other countries where I wish that I could have done it differently. Fortunately, it won’t be like that for Egypt!

LISTEN! Whether you’re planning a trip, considering it or want to know about Egypt, this is the best information I’ve found. Don’t buy a travel book when you have John’s podcast. Don’t judge a visit to Egypt based off the media and negative garbage you’ve been fed your whole life. Judge it off this podcast. Real, on the ground, first hand information. Really pumps you up to travel. Thank you John!

I am planning a trip to Egypt in a year (already booked yay!) and decided I should give this a go. It’s filled with very practical tips that tourists should absolutely be aware of. He tells you what to look out for (scams and safety issues), what hotels are good, and what monuments to see. The airport info alone info alone seems like it’s pretty valuable. Honestly, I wish I had stumbled upon this before I booked with a different tour company!

Listened to every single episode in one sitting on my way home from a road trip, couldn’t stop listening. So informational, everything we’ve been looking for before we book everything. Would love to travel with John in Egypt one day!!

This is a great podcast that you need to hear before making your Egypt travel plans. John is very insightful and isn’t afraid to tell it like he sees it. You MUST heat this one!

I have been listening to this to prepare for an already planned trip to Egypt. I find it very helpful. I wish I had listened to it before planning our trip, although luckily our tour is going to all the places he highlights. You can pick and choose: for instance, we are not going to the Red Sea so I didn't spend much time on that one. My only complaint is that he only focuses on the ancient Egyptian sites. I wish he offered more (or an additional podcast) on some of the other things: e.g Coptic Cairo sites (one of our interests), mosques worth visiting, the desert monastaries outside Cairo, etc. Maybe he will add those to this: hint hint to John! :-)

I’d love to hear an episode on how to haggle for souvenirs and other items. We definitely need more episodes! 😁
