JC Burcham"How I Built This" for veterinary professionals!Even though I'm a veterinarian, I tend to steer away from veterinary-themed podcasts. I like learning with a touch of humor (e.g. Ologies) or inspiring stories that speak to the power of resilience against adversity (e.g. How I Built This). Dr. Dave Nicol has a unique gift in his ability to connect with fascinating individuals in the veterinary field. I've only listened to the three most recent episodes, but Episode 48 with Dr. Molly McAllister has to be one of the best ever. I admit I was reluctant to give it a listen because what could I learn from someone who helps run the corporate giant Banfield? I was completely blown away by Dr. McAllister's humility and vision. Listening to her and Dr. Nicol talk about the unsustainable pressure our practitioners are facing during this pandemic really touched me: "Business is booming but our people are breaking." This is so true. And the need for mentoring programs to help support new graduates. This is something I'm so passionate about. I love having vet students come through our hospital and would love to engage in further dialog about how to help them be successful after graduation. Thank you for this well-done, educational and inspiring podcast!

LikealocketWitty, Comprehensive, and So Informative!Dr. Nicol is a fantastic interviewer with unending curiosity and passion for veterinary medicine. So far he’s chosen excellent guests who all bring a unique perspective! I’d love if you could have Dr. Cody Creelman on, I love his vlogs and would love to hear the two of you chat! Update: he did have Dr. Creelman on and it was great!! I just listened to the 2019 wrap up episode and it made me want to listen to every episode again! I had the same experience at the end of 2018 and I think that is what got me into the podcast in the first place. I listen a ton of podcasts, but this one is probably my favorite in the vetmed space.

NinaQuinFantastic PodcastI found Dr. Dave’s podcast after listening to his interview on the Purr Podcast and loved his take on veterinary leadership. I listen to his podcasts on my way to work and always find something to be inspired about for my day ahead in the clinic. Really great conversational style and great guests.

Riccil0veI feel like a junkie waiting for the next episode!I’m addicted to this podcast and now that I am all caught up on the first two years, I can’t wait for the next episode. The podcasts are long but Dr. Dave Nicol keeps you hooked the whole time with his string of amazing guests. I am an American student working on my undergrad before vet school and because of Dave, I have more confidence in my veterinary future. So many local vets have told me to go to medical school instead, they hate their profession, and it was really disheartening. I have learned that there are so many options for a veterinarian and there is room for me somewhere. I also know that my decision to major in communication was a good one and I am so excited to take all that I learned from Blunt Dissection and will learn in university into the future of veterinary medicine. Don’t ever stop these interviews, Dave, I don’t know what I’d do without them!

DockerdukThe best conversational podcast in Veterinary medicine!Want to know what shaped the lives of some of the most successful people in veterinary medicine? Dave Nichol uses his God-given gift of gab to put his guests at ease! His line of questioning ranges from light and humorous to deep and soul searching! I like the fact that these interviews are longer and more in depth. You will come away feeling like you actually know a little bit about what makes these amazingly accomplished professionals tick! Every single episode is as compelling as the last. Take a listen. You won’t be sorry!!

FelineMechanicEnjoyable! Educational!Learning a lot from this podcast! It is unfortunate it is not RACE approved CE. Fabulous guests! Dr. Nicol addresses issues and concerns that are real in the veterinary profession. There are a lot of 'new graduate' topics that still apply to those that have been out for 5 or 50 years.

AnimalDrCharlotteAwesomely motivating, entertaining and educational.Dr. Dave’s podcasts are a must-listen for every veterinarian who has aspirations to love Veterinary medicine, practice ownership, entrepreneurship, and themselves. All of my “veterinary heroes” (his term, not mine!) have been on his show. His questions allow them to open up and describe how they’ve overcome challenges is extremely motivating because they are relatable to my own struggles. Every episode has been my “favorite!”

MaryGDVMKeeps my attention!I have the attention span on a gnat! I normally have a hard time concentrating on one thing at a time and am not great with audio books or podcasts - my mind wanders - but not with Dr. Dave's Blunt Dissection podcasts - I love them. Dr. Dave is funny, engaging and keeps the conversation going. The hour goes by way too quickly! The format is more conversational and informal which is right up my alley! I look forward to more.

RethagdbGreat SpeakerI had the privilege of attending seminars at a recent C conference. I would highly recommend that you schedule some time for these in your next conference event if he is speaking. Very funny and engaging, my colleague and I both gained good information, it was time well spent. His podcast is also time well spent.

Dr Sue Cancer VetBrilliant and entertainingBrilliant! Dave is an excellent interviewer -very thoughtful and really does an amazing job listening to his guest and then asking follow up questions. I learn valuable tips and insights about the veterinary profession and my colleagues each podcast. If I get to work before the podcast is over, I have stayed in my car to finish an episode. He’s that good! (And his lovely accent make listening even more pleasant!) Veterinary friends, listen - you won’t be disappointed!
