Unfortunately I found some of the questions and the attitude of the interviewer condescending towards the subjects being interviewed and totally unnecessary when it comes to exploring the craft of acting. I just listened to the episode with Marianne Jean-Baptiste and I honestly couldn’t believe some of the backward questions she received. I couldn’t finish the episode.

Seriously, man, stop with the “mmm” stuff when people are talking. It’s incredibly annoying. This is a podcast. Either speak or listen. Stop making all the crazy sounds. It really distracts from an otherwise great podcast.

I discovered this podcast a couple of months ago and I am so glad I did. I’ve gone through and started listening from the oldest episode available and making my way to the newest episodes that are released. As an “early-stage” actor myself, I really enjoy the structure and approach this podcast takes with asking each actor about how they first begin to approach a script and then allowing them to tell some of their story. I also love how the host pushes each guest to authentically answer these questions. This is more than just a “woo woo” inspiration type of podcast (though those are valuable too!) this is one that has helped me more fully understand just how many different approaches one can have to acting. But at the end of the day all the actors seem to allude to the benefit of continually learning and being curious. Thanks for this!

Oh so so boring. The host, not the guests. But the guests come across boring because of the host. So much potential, too. Don’t waste your time unless you’re in prison and have nothing else to do.

Peter Rinaldi is my nephew, but I am not biased. His uncle, Peter (Rinaldi) Carew, for whom he was named, was also an actor and in the film industry. Actors are able to speak about the craft without the burden of having to banter about nonsense, and the results are golden. I've learned something in every single episode. FAR AND AWAY THE BEST ACTING PODCAST OUT THERE.

This podcast is a must-listen for actors, filmmakers, and fans of either. Host Peter Rinaldi gets right into it - no life history or talking about how their day was - and the actors open up and discuss their craft with sincerity. I wish more podcasts respected my intelligence the way Back to One does.

As a premise for a podcast, it’s fine. Pretty much another interview show. No new insights, nothing that warrants the show’s host’s arrogance. What I do not appreciate is dictating terms of an interview which is ridiculous. Then on top of it he is disrespectful enough to not know not correctly say the name of people’s work that makes them famous enough to warrant being on the podcast. Pontificating and being verbose does not make your podcast good. Having substance and being exciting it worth a listener’s time. Do not listen to this hot garbage.

I've listened to every episode and learned so much from this diverse group. Start with the first one. Kevin Corrigan gives an awesome little nugget at the end. It showcases why Peter Rinadli is so wonderful at engaging with actors.

Peter's manner, half super-serious and half playful, belies the thought and knowledge behind his questions. It's a combination that gives smart actors the space to talk movingly and practically about doing the job.

Peter Rinaldi asks the exact questions from these working actors that I would ask--if I had the opportunity. Mid-interview I'm thinking, "Why doesn't Peter next ask..?"... and then Peter asks that exact question. And they open to him. They help this working actor approach auditions, and scripts, and more.

This podcast is top notch. No BS, no EPK fluff interview silliness, just frank discussions of the craft that will inspire you if you're a fan or an artist, an actor/director etc.

I love that these interviews allow for the guest to share with vulnerability their experiences, insecurities, wisdom, and insights that have come with their acting process. The guests’ reveal human moments in their work as well as how their work has raised issues around gender, body image, etc. Can’t wait till the next episode.

While there's only been two episodes so far, I can say that this is a great start. Nuanced conversations with true craftspeople; a nice break from the usual superficial stuff that's out there. Kudos to Filmmaker Magazine & host Peter Rinaldi.
