JFPIV89The Game & BeyondGreat football commentary without letting anyone sleep on the world off the pitch
-
Count LowskiVital Listeninglook, these two really don’t like my two favorite teams (thorns/arsenal). that being said, it is my favorite podcast. this is essential listening for every football fan… women’s soccer is inherently political and courtney & andré highlight the issues at its core. the Black and queer people emphasized by this podcast deserve the spotlight (and you too can make comments to your friends 90 seconds before the announcers on broadcast). ps: i don’t have a middle name, tiredness scale or dad joke, but my family loves the one about the moles, cheers

itzbizrThis podcast contains the multitudes we needBaby Hippo Hipster Courtney Thee Stats and 2024-Year-of-the-Hater Chronographer Andre “DreCarl” Carlisle bring levity and gravity to this podcast highlighting Black women playing the global game of football/fútbol/soccer. Their soccer analysis is as sharp as their quips and they shine a light on narratives/perspectives that traditional sports media misses. In no other podcast can you find the deep discussions about how globally the leagues & federations fail to protect players followed up by “sorry, I distracted myself by zoom zooming…” It’s one of my favorite podcasts and I highly recommend it to both casual fans who want to deepen their knowledge & love of the game and diehard woso fanatics who appreciate the tactical analysis. It’s an important listen for anyone really because we have to be willing to listen & reflect on the hard stuff to fully appreciate & celebrate the triumphs instead of merely wading through the corporate girl-boss who-knows-what-she-believes-cup cotton-candy-fluff that permeates & flattens the narrative of women’s sports. This beautiful game is for everyone, and what Courtney & Andre do with this podcast is ensure that making that space is something we can continue to strive for at the highest level in the women’s game. Dadjoke: why did the striker bring a crayon to the soccer game? So she could draw a foul

dwj1618More necessary every dayWith soccer/football/fútbol taking steps forward then steps backwards, this podcast is more needed than ever. Courtney and Andre bring love, humor, critique, caution, and hope to a segment of sport that can build bridges across multiple social divides. I heard the call on a recent episode for more dad jokes, nicknames, and tiredness scales, so here’s a three-in-one (I hope): Courtney’s “tired”-ness scale could rate from… wait for it… unicycle to 18-wheeler (1-18). And Andre could be nicknamed some really tall vehicle… maybe a rocket mover (idk how many wheels they have)? Probably y’all can think of a better example of a suitably tall and well-wheeled vehicle. 😅 Keep on rolling, especially in these rocky times. 💜

ssgemmMy favThis podcast is my first listen every week. I don’t have a ton of people around me that even watch soccer, let alone women’s soccer with a progressive lens, so listening to you guys allows me to access others who love this sport and culture as much as I do. Thank you for the podcast and keep on keeping on.

15LettersNow more than ever. Why don’t eggs tell jokes? Because they’d crack up. I found this show about 4 years ago when the US was dealing with the fallout from a vile president, Jan. 6th terrorism, a pandemic, and deep racial and class tensions. Courtney and Andre brought themselves - their humor, their joy, their sadness, their full identities - to covering women’s soccer. This show made me so happy starting day 1, and it’s only gotten better since then. They have watched women’s soccer grow immeasurably in the last four years. They have covered it all. They’ve remained themselves. And we love them. Now, as we reenter some dark times, more than ever these are the voices I want to listen to.
-
sharkcowboyBest showThis show has all my favorite things, and I’m so glad I found my way to this corner of women’s soccer coverage after getting back into the sport last year. I especially appreciate the firm stances on trans rights and player protections. I don’t feel like there are enough hours in the day for me to keep up with European leagues, so I like those recaps too. Keep rocking! Dad joke: Where would Moo Deng go to college? A hippo campus. (And if she studies medicine, she’ll take…the Hippo-cratic oath). (If you laugh at other jokes but not these, you’re a hippocrite).

Adrianna IsabelHands down the best show about WoSoLong time listener, first time reviewer. If you’re looking to deepen your understanding of the game, this is the podcast for you. Courtney Thee Stats Stith and Andre 3000ft Carlile have incredible insight into the game of women’s soccer and the knowledge they share with their audience feels like a cheat code before any major tournament. Diaspora United is paving the way towards an equitable future in women’s soccer. Courtney and Andre continuously celebrate and highlight black women in the game, unequivocally support queer and trans athletes, and report on the disparities women in soccer face around the world. So make them your go-to for all things related to women’s soccer. But don’t take my word for it, simply ask the current and former professional players and their families who call themselves proud listeners. Thank you Courtney and Andre! I don’t have a dad joke, but remember kids: french fries are not made in France. They’re made in grease (**Greece)

Tres333333333Thank you Andre and CourtneyThank you for the amazing work - I am excited every time a new podcasts drops, and I’m logging onto an app I never use just so I can write a review. Andre “aww, they made a pac man, cute” Carlisle provides the perfect combination of context, stats (especially in the form of passing network pictographs), and vibes in his analysis. Courtney “I am Le tired” provides insight from her strong dedication behind the scenes at work, and effortlessly provides memorable quotes that often are the title of the episode - while this means I have no clue what I’m in for, I know it will be good coming from this duo. Dad joke and sorry it’s so bad, why did the chicken cross the road? BAWKcause….
-
violetsingreenFavorite football podcast, lets me pretend to know thingsLove the hosts’ faith in, centering, and celebration of Black women in the game; their unequivocal support for queer and trans athletes; the simultaneous depth and accessibility to newbies of their game analyses; and Courtney’s infectious laughter. (I’ll never forget her description of the Gotham holey wall that somehow defied physics to save their NWSL championship.) Dad joke: Why wasn’t the nose on the soccer team? It didn’t get picked! (admittedly from fatherly dot com) Nickname: André “Air Conditioned” Carlisle! Because he seems chill. Chill enough to forgive the suggestion. I hope. 🤓
-
samantham1xoxoCan’t say enough how thankful I am for this podcast and the incredible insight that Courtney and Andre provide. I respect their opinion so much and love repeating their points in my regular life so I seem like I know what I’m talking about. Double shout outs to the tall ones!!!
-
MarisaHereGreat podA great podcast to deepen your understanding of the women’s game. Highly recommend. Suggested tiredness scale: From Cat Macario’s legs in the Tokyo Olympics (not at all tired) to Trinity Rodman’s legs at the Paris Olympics (very, very tired)
-
Erin M McCThanks y’all!!I just want to thank y’all so much for your smart, thoughtful, and joyful commentary week after week. I burst into tears listening to your recent episode when you asserted your support for inclusion of trans people in sports. Even if it seems small or obvious to say out loud, right now it makes a difference to hear support being shared openly and proudly from anyone, and also specifically from sports media. Love y’all, and can’t wait to hear your commentary on a certain Olympics roster that was just dropped (that front line!? 🔥). Thank you!!!
-
TomCruisewithdaTool5Just dropping 5 to counter the bigots. Sad that Utah won in pride month. However, what a great goal by KDF. Happy Fava’s Day!
-
AnnieMorgan1230Praise and a Dad JokeFirst off - love this pod. Courtney and Andre are amazing and the highlight of my week. My soccer knowledge has been broadened so much deeper and wider since y’all started this podcast. Thank you from the bottom of my GenX old gay heart . Dad Joke - Q- Why don’t monsters eat ghosts? A - Cause they taste like sheet.
-
MCMVTGreat!Love listening to you two talk football! Your discourse helps me to be a more critical viewer and excited fan. Thanks.
-
TedErnstBest Women’s Soccer ShowWhy did the chicken cross the playground? To get to the other slide! Also can’t leave a 3rd review. Anyone telling you to talk less should be ignored. Those people can turn the podcast off. You aren’t hurting anyone by going longer. Some of us want all the takes, Zambia, Us/Mexico World Cup bid, billionaire owners in NwSL, etc. just keep going! Turns out, I can’t leave a 2nd review, so don’t know if you’ll ever see this. Two antennas got married. The ceremony was okay, but the reception was incredible
-
AcquanettieWhat is good? This podcast! My favorite thing is listening to this podcast after a week of NWSL action, and getting Andre and Courtney's take on all the games!
-
Number two fanSheBelieves This Podcast Deserves All the LoveThis is my favorite podcast! I’ve been listening since the 2021 Olympics when I felt like the only person getting up in the middle of the night to watch the games. Courtney and Andre always have fresh takes and their eye on the big picture in the WoSo world. As someone who loves soccer, they have made me love the game even more and I’m always excited when a new episode drops. It doesn’t surprise me that with their podcast and other indie women’s sports media coverage taking off, we’re also seeing record attendance at games, although I suspect they may be counting Andre multiple times because he’s so tall. If you’re not already listening, just hit play/subscribe and I promise you’ll have a good time. Requisite Dad Joke — Why did the rooster go to KFC? A: To see a chicken strip SHE DRAGGED HER MOMMA IN THE NYTIMES!!!
-
ArthurGameReal Talk On The NWSLCourtney and “Washington Heights” Andre have great chemistry and personality as they break down what’s going on in the women’s game. They bring much needed perspective and perceptiveness, and always make me laugh in the process. Also, did you hear the one about the three moles tunneling into the sugar factory? As they got closer the first mole in line said, “I smell sugar!” Then the second mole in the tunnel said, “I smell sugar too!” Then the one in the back said, “I just smell molasses.”

bmrbmr23An Absolute Must-Listen!!I could not sing higher praises to two of my faves!! Always so grateful for their insightful analysis, their thoughtful and open discussion on important issues others may shy away from, and the genuine love and excitement both Courtney and Andre have for the game. It really shows and is so contagious and so so appreciated. I always look forward to a new ep, and when we get a longer one it truly brings so much delight to my heart! Thank you for all of the work you both put into crafting such a necessary and ultra compelling podcast, and for highlighting players and stories that oftentimes get relegated to the sidelines (super undeservedly so!) I really found this podcast at a time when I needed it last summer and have been a devoted fan ever since. It made my love for and knowledge of the game grow, introduced me to so many incredible players and such insane global talent, and it also just makes keeping up with woso feel so much more relevant to my personal interests, so much more accesible and so much more fun! A truly one of a kind show!!! P.S. Where else can I get some much-valued Beyonce and woso thoughts all in one place!!?! Also, a quick little jokey joke: Why do seagulls fly over the sea? …because if they flew over the Bay, they’d be bagels!! 🥁 Now here’s hoping for many more Bay-goals this season!! (had to fit that one in too somehow 😝)
-
Love love LisaMy go-to pod for wosoBattling the haters. I got you.
-
Ruff and GullyAlways on PointAndre and Courtney provide expert analysis of the women’s soccer landscape and are not afraid to discuss and name the problems (racism, transphobia, homophobia, abuse, etc) plaguing the sport. Thank you for always standing up and speaking out 🏳️⚧️ ✊🏼
-
danielle5615One of my top soccer podcastsConsistent, thoughtful conversations that aren’t happening in other women’s soccer coverage.
-
MaxwellSimonBest oneFar and away my fave soccer podcast.

merr-beffI Never Miss an EpisodeI stumbled on this podcast in early 2023 when I was first starting to dip my toes into the WOSO universe, and I have been a loyal listener ever since. The in-depth tactical analysis, nuanced commentary, and meaningful discussions on how to make this global sport more inclusive, equitable, and representative for everyone keep me coming back for more with each new episode. Courtney and Andre have mastered a truly fantastic blend of insight, humor, education, and authenticity. I am grateful this podcast exists, and I will continue tuning in for as long as they plan to be on the mics. And now for a “Dad Joke” (I had to Google this because I my personal Dad Joke repertoire is sorely lacking 😜): “Have you read that book about anti-gravity? It’s impossible to put down!”
-
AudiojunkeeA podcast I always look forward to!As someone who’s starting to watch the game more and more, Diaspora United is one of my go-to’s for women’s soccer. Courtney and Andre are so easy to listen to and also keep it real. It’s always a big “YESSS” when a new ep drops in the feed.
-
jess__tI never miss an episodeI appreciate y’all so much for the energy and heart you put into this project and for speaking the truth especially when people don’t want to hear it! Now for a joke: Did you know it’s inappropriate to make a 'dad joke' if you're not a dad? It's a faux pa.
-
edsong14Changed the way I look at the game of soccerDiaspora United goes in depth about women’s soccer (with an emphasis on the USWNT and NWSL) in a way that the mainstream soccer media does not, telling the stories that you won’t hear about in said mainstream soccer media. In a media climate where there’s very little coverage of Black women in soccer in the mainstream, André and Courtney’s coverage is essential and will change the way you look at the game. Every soccer fan should add it to their rotation!
-
LoveNBCnowLoving Courtney and André Maher-shalal-hash-bazCourtney and Andre are the dynamic duo that the world of women's professional soccer needs! Their podcast is an absolute gem. Their fearless and candid approach to discussing both the strengths and weaknesses of the lgame is refreshing and insightful. It's evident that they possess a wealth of knowledge about players, teams, and strategies that truly enriches the listening experience. I always look forward to tuning in and learning from their expertise, as well as their humor! Keep up the fantastic work, Courtney and Andre! And now for a dad joke: Why was the soccer field always wet? Because the players kept dribbling all over it!
-
Rel PThank YouThank you both for your sharing your thoughts on the Korbin Albert situation. I have been feeling the same anger and frustration. Your voices and work are so incredibly needed and valued in this space. Keep up the amazing work and never waiver
-
Allofyhenicknamesweretaken😁Ignorance is off-puttingStick to what you know. If you wander outside that, educate yourself before you make ignorant and slanderous comments. It makes one question the rest of your “expertise”. Disappointing.
-
Marv77777yuck…What triggers Andre and Courtney is their problem. This pod wants to make its yours. Avoid this nonsense.
-
NaphjoLIVINGGGG for this podAs soon as each episode drops, I do a happy dance and press play as fast as possible. I enjoy Courtney and Andre so much...they are Serious football podcasters while bringing humor, realness, and fun to the sport. Beautiful voices too. What a duo! Dad-joke: what did one burp say to the other burp? Let's be stinkers and go out the other end.
-
maestra_moralesFavorite Podcast, Period.I became a fan during the WWC. Since then, Diaspora United has easily become my favorite podcast. So when Courtney called on us to come up with an André nickname, I knew I couldn’t let her down. I bid my time waiting for the perfect one to fall into my lap. Well it happened today after listening to the Gold Cup Semi-Final recap episode. I present to you: André “No Era Penal” Carlisle. In all seriousness, I look forward to getting educated on women’s soccer every week by DU. Thank you.
-
Margaret K-LWhat you need is this podcastDo you wish you had a woso group chat? Do you tire out your friends with Cool Woso Facts while they try to listen patiently? Did you find yourself telling your coworkers about Puerto Rico ballin out in the W Gold Cup because you just needed to tell *somebody*? Do you enjoy knowing about up and coming ballers before everyone else catches on? Do you love learning about tactics? Do you have just a lot of feelings about women’s soccer? What you need is this podcast. Join Andre the Hyperbolater and Courtney the Stat for the best takes, on-point analysis, and good laughs as they cover the global game. Why did the scarecrow win an award? It was outstanding in its field.
-
jay_not_jackieGreat banter and insights, highlighting the best players in the gameI never miss an episode. André and Courtney not only highlight the best players in the game, their breakdowns of the competitions and tactics make me feel like a smarter fan. (If Lindsey Horan’s mom listened to this podcast, she wouldn’t be getting dragged in the national press.) Dad joke time: Why do you never see hippopotamuses hiding in trees? Because they’re so good at it!
-
blacstar4Found my peopleThis is gonna be my favorite podcast real quick

Buffy NubbsPopped in the mouthMy people. My home. Yep. USWNT review spot on. Middle name: Cleo

ezau24EntertainingThe way the intro dropped as I backed out the the drive way made me finally write this. Five stars five stars
-
wosopodheadLive Laugh Learn <3Call me a Trinity Rodman bobble head because I be head nodding to this podcast all day long. I live. I laugh. I love. But most importantly, I learn (idk it felt right). Andre and Courtney are truly beacons of knowledge & humor — they offer a much needed perspective in the women’s game, and consistently. Thanks for all you do! Here’s a dad joke as my thanks: What’s Forrest Gump’s password? 1forrest1.
-
kg___19Y’all are everywhere!I’m so grateful I found the pod right before the World Cup and have loved listening to y’all since! I’m doing a presentation in a college course on if the NWSL draft should exist (it shouldn’t) and I was reading a Gaming Society article that talks about doing a signing day instead and I said out-loud “is this André” and scrolled up to find André had in fact written it! Appreciate everything y’all do! #AbolishTheDraft
-
tcmiataAmazing all aroundAmazing analysis. Wonderful coverage of the game around the globe. Seeing this in my notifications just makes me smile because Andre and Courtney share their love of the game in a fun, open way - I learn something every episode. I can’t wait to listen. (And super hyped that Courtney also promotes Covid safety, covid still exists, current policies are harmful to high-risk communities and people are dying or impacted by long covid everyday) Joke: My friend fainted on a carousel, but he’ll be ok. He’s coming back around.
-
ReignStormSeaThe BestAs a newbie fan of women's football (working hard to call it football and not soccer 😂) I have learned so much. When USL ssuper league was announced I literally was waiting to hear what y'all thought to decide what I thought! And without further Ado I present the joke my 9th grade self thought was the funniest ever: Three men walked into a bar and said, "Ouch!" 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
-
Jadedragon13Dragged her MommaI laughed so hard at your portion on Lindsey Horan’s comments about her mother. Your conversation cracked me up so much I had to go back and listen again. Very funny take. Thank you for giving me such a good laugh. And thanks for all you do - I appreciate your perspective. By the way, just to comfort you, schools do teach phonics again. Hot and heavy, for the schools I know. (I am a teacher.)
-
Willa?Rock bottomWhy was the sedimentary rock so cheap? Because it was on shale 🫣
-
etwasaffigEverythingTalldre and Courtney are you covered in dried garlic and onion flakes, poppy and sesame seeds, and dusted with kosher salt? Cause y’all are everything to me, bae-gels.
-
iSoccer19Ask and ye shall (belatedly) receiveApologies—I’ve had Crystal Dunn puns saved since the Crystal Dunn episode. Here’s one: Of her being the greatest product the US of A has produced, you said, and I quote; “I don’t think anybody can do what she has DUNN to the level that which she has DUNN them.” Sorry not sorry!!! Anyway, y’all are the best and if I had updated my app you would’ve been on my Spotify Wrapped. To an even better 2024! 🍉
-
NicholasSoccerThe best podcast around!Diaspora United fills a gap in the media landscape with humor, context, and hope. In a space often centered around white athletes and ‘traditional’ fanbases, André and Courtney shift the narrative to underrepresented and historically undervalued players, teams, and federations, ensuring there is a voice for everyone in women’s football. Without being afraid to tackle big issues surrounding race, politics, social justice, and gender, this podcast demonstrates exceptional journalism that never fails to keep me thinking long I finish their episodes. It’s a must listen in times of concern within the NWSL, ahead of international tournaments, and whenever you are looking for a smile! PS - KC BABY AND GO BATS! Dad Joke: what’s the best state to shop for a soccer kit? Answer: New Jersey / New York
-
CincySportingEasy recommendationIf you’re not listening to to Diaspora United you’re not getting a holistic picture of the women’s game. Compelling, detailed, and for those of us who have thoughts about players getting 500 minutes in NWSL it’s satisfying to hear others who love the game like me. I don’t have a dad joke because I’m too busy managing a cinnamon roll shop and I don’t have the time to come up with them. I will tell you one trick of the trade: I play ‘80s R&B music to get people to come in to work at 4 a.m. Do you know why? Because Anita Baker. I know you wanted something better but… I’m giving you the best that I got!
