Nations of the World

6

This podcast series is intended to take you on a journey to each of the world's many fascinating and diverse nations. In each episode you will learn factual points as well as many details that make each nation unique. Each episode will include four segments. The first one - Bare Bones - will include the basics such as the country's capital, it's form of government, languages, religions, and more. The second one - Heart of the Nation - is where we go more in depth into the geography, wildlife, history, family life, education, arts and culture, imports and exports, to name a few. The third one - Who is? will discuss a few of the notable people from this country. The fourth one - (my favourite) Who Would've Thought? - where detailed unique facts about a country are presented. You will hear no debates, no political slants, and no personal opinions. You will get just the facts.Gaining knowledge about other people and their culture is often the best way to understand who they are and why they do things a certain way. This, in turn, can make us less fearful of differences and hopefully more accepting.

    A lot to be desired
I tried to enjoy this podcast, however, after listening to the episode on the history of Israel I had to unsubscribe. Critical information that should have been included in such a “deep dive” was omitted—for example, there was no consideration of the UK’s alliance with the Zionist movement in the early 20th century because of the country’s own anti-Semitism and desire to eradicate the UK of the Jews. Additionally, the repeated mispronunciation of Palestinian cities (ie, Ramallah) makes me concerned about the credibility of this podcast.

    Thorough and Informative
Truly enjoyed listening to the episode on Algeria. Waiting to hear the episodes on the other countries in North Africa and will listen to others while I wait.

    Could be much better
Although the content and concept of the podcast are good, the narration is VERY flat and monotone. Within seconds I could also detect a discernible Massachusetts accent. I feel like podcasters really should not have anything distracting as a regional accent.

    Wanted to like
Found this and was excited to listen. Couldn’t. Host has zero inflection in her voice. Totally monotone.

Just the facts for the win!
What a great concept for a podcast. It was refreshing to hear a straightforward, well-researched deep dive into nations I either didn’t know or thought I knew. I subscribed immediately, and I look forward to more episode! Give it a listen!

    Loved it!
After listening to the first episode, I realized just how little I know about other countries… which led me to keep listening! I appreciate all the research that went into this. As a plus, it’s relaxing and easy to listen to.
