Monster Donut: A Percy Jackson Podcast

Welcome to Monster Donut! A chronological deep dive into the Percy Jackson series and all of its following spin-offs. Hosted by Phoebe, who professionally analyzes creative work as a dramaturg & story consultant, & Emily, a writer & classicist with a degree in Greek & Latin. Every two weeks, Phoebe & Emily (along with some occasional special guests) will analyze every book, short story, and odd narrative blog post in the order in which they occur within the PJO/HOO/TOA timeline. While they chat, Phoebe will sketch whatever characters/scenes are speaking to her. Those sketches will be posted on our Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok (@PJOPod on all accounts). New episodes every other Tuesday!

    Hi! I absolutely love this podcast because it’s so cute and it’s just amazing! I also love walker Scoobell 😍 I’m from Hades cabin (cabin 13 to be exact I’m a swiftie too!) and I got a little agitated when you forget to mention Hades cabin, but whatever... anyway other than the unmentioned and underrated hades cabin thing, I love this! Thank you!

    Informed by classics; Motivated by a love of the series.
    Emily and Phoebe are able to embed great literary analysis among comfortable conversation between friends, and their chemistry and extensive knowledge make for a great listen every time. This is one of my few “drop everything and listen when an episode drops” podcasts. To anyone who read these books as a kid, I can’t recommend this pod highly enough!

    This is by far my favorite PJO podcast - the historical background and intricate analyses are incredibly interesting and lend so much to the stories.

    great deep dives & interesting insight on Percy Jackson books, 10/10 podcast for sure. Only downside is that I caught up to the episodes and have to actually wait until the next releases 💔🍏🍎

    FANTASTIC PJO POD!
    I've loved and read the pjo books and all related series for the past 10ish years and hearing the different view points and new insights is delightful. I love the mythology and hearing all the reoccurring themes I never noticed. I love learning new things! Both Pheobe and Emily are very intelligent and very nice to listen to. I will continue to listen and I recommend to anyone who wants more from the books.

    Wonderful show with thoughtful commentary!
    This show is a wonderful listen for anyone who enjoys the PJO books, whether this is your first read through, or you’ve been in the fandom for 10+yrs. The hosts breakdown each book with literary analysis and classical Greek and Roman expertise, and a genuine love of the stories! I found this show through “The Newest Olympian” and was shocked to see only 18 reviews! I’d encourage everyone to give this one a listen for it’s truly thoughtful commentary! It’s been a joy to listen to!

    Monster Donut is an amazing Podcast!! Any PJO fan will love it. I’m newer to the PJO fandom so I’m trying to find as many thing Percy Jackson as I can. I love how much detail they put into each episode. It’s also quite funny as well, I’ve found myself laughing aloud at points. If I could rate it higher, I would. I can’t wait to hear more!!

    I’m so glad I found this podcast! I’ve been a PJO fan for more than 10 years but this show is really exposing aspects of the series I’d never even considered and making me think about the books in a whole new light. The hosts are great and easy to listen to, and they definitely know their stuff in terms of Greek mythology, history, etc. Can’t wait for more!
